Our Pastor:
Reverend Gordon Kunde was sent to serve as the Stated Supply Minister to our congregation in 2007. He comes to us from a varied background as a Presbyterian minister and Christian layman. A graduate of Muskigum College, a Presbyterian school in Southeastern Ohio, he then enrolled in Pittsburgh Theological Seminary with the intent to serve as a pastor-missionary engaged in income generating agricultural development. Gordon has served on the staff of a large church in Pittsburgh and rural congregation in Western Pennsylvania. Following a term as a missionary in Brazil and studies for a Masters of Agriculture in economics and production at Penn State University, the reduction in missionary personnel in 1968 by the United Presbyterian Church resulted in Gordon pursuing a career in agribusiness and small enterprise development as part of the U.S. Government foreign aid program. While working as a consultant to foreign businesses and governments, Gordon and his wife Zora have lived in 6 foreign countries and worked in 14. (They are Columbia, Kenya, Ghana, Uganda, Pakistan, Liberia, Mozambique, Egypt, Zambia, Guinea Bissau, St. Lucia, El Salvador, Portugal and Brazil) They have two married daughters and one granddaughter. They have made their home base in Howey in the Hills since 1978.
Our Music Director:
Wesley Locke has directed our adult choir since 1993. Since joining our church Wes has been an active member, serving as youth director for 4 years and as an Elder on the Session for three terms. Wes grew up in Umatilla and attended both the United Methodist and First Baptist churches in Umatilla as a youth. Wes joined the United States Marine Corps in 1981 and served as a Marine Bandsman and Marine Corps recruiter in San Diego and San Francisco, California until 1992. He then returned to Umatilla and attended Stetson University in Deland, Fl. where he earned a Bachelors of Music Education in 1995. Since then Wes has taught music in the Lake County School system at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. He is currently the music teacher at Spring Creek Elementary School.
